Why one GPM number can be misleading
A fixture has a flow rate, a household has a realistic peak-flow combination and a tankless heater has output under stated conditions. These are related but not interchangeable.
For sizing, combine simultaneous fixture flow with the rise from incoming to desired outlet temperature.
